Managing Director
Roger Brisley MSc

With 20 years experience in architecture and engineering and a strong belief in eco-friendly solutions, Roger then studied for a Masters at Hooke Park College part of the Parham Trust in 1993. This lead to a position at Architen and although he enjoyed designing and managing tensile projects there, he was unhappy with the materials used and had the idea to offer environmentally friendlier tensile structures. Timber Intent was established in 1996, this makes it probably the oldest tensile fabric structure manufacturer in its original guise in the UK. Roger specialises particularly in bespoke design and enjoys the special engineering, detailing and manufacturing challenges of utilising round-wood timber and fabrics in tensile structures.

Sail/Tent-maker
David Buchanan

David has been sail-making for many years and in that time has collaborated with a number of leading architectural tent makers. His attention to detail and commitment to quality ensures he is probably the UK’s finest sewn membrane craftsman and he has enjoyed a close working relationship with Timber Intent since its inception.

Installations
Jim Fish

Jim started installing tents when he was quite young, his father Dan a friend and consultant of Timber Intent was a pioneer in architectural tent design, engineering and computer patterning. (see www.surface.co.nz) Jim naturally helped on installations and over the years has installed around the world progressing to site managing large and small projects. He and his widely experienced team now prefer to work with the timber and natural materials that Timber Intent offer and always ensure that the highest standards are maintained.

Timber Intent’s Mission Statement
To design and build useful, enduring, beautiful structures that actually store carbon. To have an ethical approach to everything we do including sourcing, re-cycling, minimising impact, employment etc.
